The bodies of nine members of the same family who went missing in a landslide in Syangja have been found. Maya Nepali’s house was buried in a landslide at 14 Tamadi in Waling Municipality at around 6 am on Thursday.
The bodies of 27-year-old Umakala Nepali, 48-year-old Maya Nepali, 30-year-old Deepak Nepali, 60-year-old Sani Nepali and 9-year-old Vibas Nepali were found in the landslide, according to the State Police Office, Pokhara. The deceased have been identified as Bikram Nepali, 14, Binita Nepali, 19, Kuldeep Nepali, 21, and a 6-month-old boy, said DSP Rajendra Babu Regmi.
Manisha Nepali, 16, who was found injured, has been brought to Pokhara for treatment as her condition is critical. There were 10 people sleeping in the house.
A team of police inspector’s command and armed police force was deployed from Ward Police Office, Waling. Chief District Officer Ganga Bahadur Chhetri said that the bodies of all the victims were collected and taken to Waling for postmortem.
Similarly, 16-year-old Bishnu Bahadur Pariyar (Damai) died when a landslide filled his house in Kaligandaki of the district.
